Geminor has appointed Benjamin Deckert as Country Manager for its German operations, effective October 1, 2026. Deckert brings around 15 years of experience from the German waste and recycling industry and joins Geminor from Bestsort, part of the Buhck Group. Current Country Manager Manfred Rissmann will move into a Business Development Manager role and remain an active part of the German organisation.

Deckert has spent his career in the German waste industry, with extensive experience in waste sorting, recycling and plant operations. During his time at Bestsort in Hamburg, he played a key role in developing the company’s sorting operations, including responsibility for the concept, permitting, construction and commissioning of a new sorting facility.

Geminor’s international presence was an important motivation for Deckert in taking on the new role.

“I know the German waste market well, but joining Geminor gives me the opportunity to understand the markets and waste flows across Europe. That international perspective is increasingly important for developing the right solutions in Germany, and I look forward to learning from our teams and markets across the Group,” says Benjamin Deckert, incoming Country Manager at Geminor Germany.

Building on an established German operation

Deckert takes over the Country Manager role from Manfred Rissmann, who will continue with Geminor as Business Development Manager. In his new role, Rissmann will focus on developing new business opportunities in the German market.

“Benjamin brings extensive operational experience from the recycling industry and a strong understanding of the German market. I am very pleased that he is taking over the Country Manager role, and I look forward to supporting him during the transition while focusing more of my time on business development,” says Manfred Rissmann, Country Manager at Geminor Germany.

The leadership change comes as Geminor sees opportunities for further growth in Germany. New treatment capacity is entering the German market, increasing the potential for cross-border waste flows and creating opportunities to connect German facilities with suppliers in neighbouring European markets.

For Deckert, building relationships across Geminor will be an early priority. During his first year, he plans to work closely with the German team, meet colleagues across the Group and visit Geminor’s operations in other European markets.

“Reliability is very important to me. Our customers need partners they can depend on throughout the year, including when market conditions become more challenging. I believe in long-term relationships, and that requires being close to both our customers and our team,” says Deckert.
